Temple Baptist Church Senior Pastor Job Description
Temple Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor to lead the church in its mission “to know God and to make Him known.” Temple Baptist Church was founded in 1934 and is a member of the Baptist Network Northwest. We have a very significant emphasis on caring for our congregation, prayer, foreign missions, and community outreach. Temple Baptist Church is in Fircrest, Washington, nestled between Tacoma and University Place. With weekly attendance of approximately 80+ people, Temple Baptist is focused on expanding its reach in the community by expanding its evangelistic and outreach ministries. Our facility is located in a busy commercial district on five acres, debt-free and is directly across from Tacoma Community College that averages 13,000 students. Our auditorium that has a capacity of 250 with expansion to 300 during special events. We are looking for an energetic, visionary shepherd to lead us in God’s mission for our church. The compensation package starts at $85,000.00 a year.
Responsibilities of the Senior Pastor will include but are not limited to:
• Provide leadership to all functions of the church, including the staff and committees,
in implementing action plans to accomplish God’s vision for us
• Provide leadership, direction and feedback to all staff
• Provide leadership in the planning and execution of all worship services
• Provide biblical counseling
• Provide effective, meaningful, expository sermons
• Provide pastoral care to troubled, sick and grieving church family
• Lead the church in outreach ministries in our community
Preferred requirements of the candidate include:
• A theological degree from an accredited seminary or divinity school
• Experience as an associate pastor in a Baptist church and/or a senior pastor in a
Baptist church; experience should include leading worship services, administering
ordinances, preaching sermons, providing spiritual guidance to members, and
leading others to know Christ
• Strong biblical knowledge
• Strong communication skills in and out of the pulpit
• Proven ability to lead people in implementing a shared vision
